March 30 1 Samuel 5-7 & 1 Cor. 10

The God of Israel is God alone you shall not have strange gods before you. Dagon is no match for the God of Israel. The Ark had a proper place to be, and it wasn’t with the Philistines. The Israelites celebrated the Ark’s return. The Ark came to reside in Kiriath-jearim one of the principal cities of Judea with Samuel as a judge again the Israelites were right with God. Our physical Church building is the proper place for the Lord to dwell and is, therefore, the appropriate place for us to worship and pray to God. Is it the only place to worship or pray? No. But it is THE place to do so. See you all there. I know which seats you sit in…..

1Cor 10:12-13, “Therefore, whoever thinks he is standing secure should take care not to fall. No trial has come to you but what is human. God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it.” Verse 12 challenges us not to let our ego get in the way of the Lord’s guidance. We need our Savior! My sins are just my sins that will drag me down if I go it alone without Jesus Christ! With Verse 13 we need to remember that the letter was to all the Corinthians and not just a single person. So, when Paul says God …will not let you …so that you may be able to bear it, the you is plural not singular. We as the Body of Christ find the strength of Christ in our unity in times of trouble. Do not be afraid to turn to the Body the Church your brothers and sisters for the strength you (singular) need from you (plural) that is the Body of Christ which will not let you down! We have the strength of Christ who overcame death, death on a cross!
