February 11 Leviticus 7-9 Romans 2:1-16

It is interesting that the Communion sacrifice is an act of Thanksgiving. The Scriptures say, "If someone offers it for thanksgiving, that person shall offer it with unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes made of bran flour mixed with oil and well kneaded. For us, we come to the Mass in Thanksgiving (Eucharist). We eat of the unleavened bread (Holy Communion). We do have Jewish roots to what Jesus instituted on the night before he died. Let us give thanks for the people of Israel that celebrated God's glory among them, may we too through the celebration of the Mass come to experience the glory of God.

The scriptures are never just this way or that. We hear this in Paul's writings on good works. ". . .revelation of the just judgment of God, who will repay everyone according to his works: eternal life to those who seek glory, honor, and immortality through perseverance in good works, but wrath and fury to those who selfishly disobey the truth and obey wickedness." It does not say we can save ourselves by these good works. Indeed it does show that we are to be about that work of God. As you look back on this week, can you see the good works that you did as a sign of where your heart is and your desire to obtain from God eternal life? If so bask in the glory of God. If not this is a new week - go for it.
