January 12 Genesis 27-28 & Mark 4:35-41

Is this a soap opera or what! It is life then and now. The focus is God's will not our or Jacob and Rebekah's actions, they would be wrong now and they were wrong then. The correct focus is that God's will is done. God is able to help us find the good in our whole lives. Would God prefer us to tell the truth always - Yes. When we choose to lie, can God help us find the right and true path again? - absolutely!. Jacob was the second son another younger son will also be blessed over all the other sons - David. Don't presume to know God's will. Pray now to know and follow it. Jacob prays and God hear's him so he says, “If God will be with me and protect me on this journey I am making and give me food to eat and clothes to wear, and I come back safely to my father’s house, the LORD will be my God. This stone that I have set up as a sacred pillar will be the house of God. Of everything you give me, I will return a tenth part to you without fail.” Of our time, talent, and treasure each week we are to give a tenth to the Lord. How are you doing in giving to the Lord? Try it you too will be blessed. In Mark's Gospel, Jesus is Lord over all that includes wind and sea. With Jesus, in our hearts, we can trust that the storms of life will not destroy us. This does not mean we will be trouble free, the boat was sinking, but in troubled times we do well to turn to Jesus and find peace in him. "Do you not yet have faith," was Jesus question to them and it works for us. If I share a tenth of my time, talent and treasure each week with the Lord won't I have less? The answer is NO!
