March 24 Judges 13-16 & 1 Cor. 6
It is helpful to know that Samson was a judge in Isreal. It is not so much his words that speak his wisdom, but his ultimate faithfulness to God. The twists and turns of our life make for an interesting and sometimes difficult journey for us. God does wish us to know his right path. Sometimes that way is clear other time it is not till after an event that we see where God’s hand was upon us. Manoah and his wife, Samson’s parents show us the desire of God to guide us through life. For an Israelite to encounter an angel of the Lord was to be in the presence of God. Manoah and his wife had been childless, and now the angel brought them the good news. The Manoah prays not only in thanksgiving but for guidance. Not a bad thing to keep in mind. Not only are we to be thankful for the blessings we receive throughout our life, but we are to seek God’s guidance on how to receive (use) them. What are some of the blessings, talents, and abilities that you possess? Offer thanks and seek God’s direction on living them. When someone tells you all that is in their heart how would you receive (use) that information? Delilah lived up to her pagan ways. May you treasure the heart of another as a gift from God.
Who are you? Paul in around about way is asking exactly that. Paul reminds us that we are not our own. We are God’s loving presence as we are temples of the Holy Spirit. Glorify God in your body!
